How We Started

In a time when fraternal/service organizations are struggling nationwide, the Gibson City Rotary Club was no exception. Although it had a long and storied history of service to the Gibson City community, that specific structure wasn’t conducive to the volunteer efforts we wanted to pursue.

We wanted a service club that was more attractive to the general population without the meeting requirements and elevated dues. We created GASA to be a more casual endeavor with fewer meetings and lower dues while making a bigger local impact.

When Do We Meet?

Our annual meeting is the fourth Wednesday of April each year where members are expected to elect the new Board members and discuss the next year’s business. Other than the annual meeting, members will be notified of meetings as they are called periodically to discuss and approve new projects. As a new project is approved and started, GASA will update members of volunteer opportunities along with a call for any special talents needed to complete the project.

Hopefully we have found a structure that enables many members of our community to volunteer and give back in ways that will enhance Gibson City and the GCMS area.
